Apex Legends has achieved massive success in 2019, the game was a major hit in Online Multiplayer Games. EA wanted to expand its platform to Mobile devices in May 2019. They reported that they are in talks with developers in China that can help. However, it’s been a year and no update from EA was heard until today.
EA says that in order to publish it in China, they will be needed a partner. It further says that they have a partner, who is helping them develop Apex Legends for Mobile.
Rolling mobile out in China, you need to have a partner, and we’re—as we’ve said in the prepared remarks today—we’re working with a partner there, and we’re very excited about the opportunity,” EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen said during the Q&A session. “That partner is also helping us develop a mobile Apex for the globe—more to come on that in terms of timing.”
I am pretty sure it’ll be Tencent, Chinese Mega Giant Company who will help them build Apex Legends for mobile devices. Previously, other Battle Royale games like PUBG & Fortnite have also expanded to Mobile. Furthermore, major companies know that there is a huge mobile gaming community, and it can benefit them a lot. I recently shared data, that showed the number of transactions and player base on all platforms. Mobile was well on top, mainly because everyone has a mobile, the games are free, and its convenient to move it around. Apart from the benefits, there are also huge issues in releasing a mobile game, the game has to be well optimized, which takes a lot of time. Lastly, Epic Games released an update a few days back, that allows iPad Pro players to have 120 FPS.
