Assassin’s Creed Valhalla creative Director Ashraf Ismail has just announced that he is stepping down from the project. There are zero reasons, why Ashraf would leave. However, many reports like the one posted on PC.Gamer suggests that Ashraf was accused of being in a sexual relationship with a fan while hiding his marriage.
A Twitch Stramer by the name of Matronedea reported several images of Ashraf’s conversation with the girl. According to the streamer, Ashraf refused to tell her that he was married already.
Ashraf was once again put into controversy when he was asked why he was wearing a wedding ring. Ashraf answered that this was done to prevent his parents from having to “answer to their community why their eldest son is not married.”
Matronedea confirmed from various sources that Ashraf was married. A statement from Ashraf also suggested that he was already married.
“The lives of my family and my own are shattered,” Ismail wrote. “I am deeply sorry to everyone hurt in this.”
“If someone is routinely seeking out partners who are 8-18 years younger than them and fans of theirs, that person is seeking out people they can take advantage of,” Matrondea tweeted earlier today. “They are abusing their position of power. It’s not rape, but that does not make it okay.”
Now Ismail has stepped down from Valhalla’s development. The game must be done, hence he is allowed to leave. Ubisoft has refused to comment on the controversy.
“There are hundreds of talented, passionate people striving to build an experience for you that do not deserve to be associated with this,” he wrote. “I wish them all the best.”
