After the heartening unveiling of NVIDIA’s next generation of graphics cards, RTX 2080 series, ASUS has launched their very own modified versions of RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080 GPUs, namely, ROG Strix, ASUS Dual, and ASUS Turbo cards designed for different kinds of builds. Their purpose is to complement the original GPUs with sublime cooling systems to push their potential to their fullest.

Both embody a custom circuit engineered to draw upon every ounce of performance from the GPU. NVIDIA’s aim is to achieve higher frequencies, however, the VRM is required to keep up with these frequencies. ROG Strix cards have substantial power on demand for both automatic clock scaling and manual overclocking under a stunning 16 phase RTX 2080 Ti. ROG Strix has premium alloys chokes and solid polymer capacitors to feed the GPU with adequate power.

In Strix, they have reinforced the GPU with a muscular frame that resists torsional twisting and lateral bending, thus, protecting the GPU from physical stress ensuing from visible sagging. This frame greatly improves the integrity of card which is further enhanced by a metal plate on the back.

They have employed brand Axial tech fans with more airflow and lesser noise. Hub is minimized to make room for larger blades which will then generate stronger air currents with each revolution, and they added a barrier ring that helps the fan direct air downward and maintains its shape at higher speeds. All these enhancements generate higher air pressures through the heatsink and allow the fan to hit higher RPMs with same acoustic level.




Strix RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080 have dual FanConnect 2 headers which are compatible with standard DC and PWM system fans, these additional fans will aid the fans on the card to bring about an absolute stunner of a cooling system. FanConnect 2 allows system cooling to respond immediately to GPU and CPU temperature changes resulting in optimal cooling at all workloads.

The GPU tweak enables the full blown control over fan profiles, overclocking settings, and even a configurable OSD. You can also switch between quiet modes and the predetermined performance by a physical switch on the card. Basically, this switch shifts between BIOS profiles with various fan curves that have an effect over how GPU enters into Boost domain.

The shroud is mildly remodeled to allow a smoother ventilation when the blower is blocked by adjacent graphics cards or case panels, raising portions to create a shunt, and angling a larger portion to funnel air toward the fan intake. The rear I/O panel is also remodeled to allow an ample airflow freely out the back of the chassis. The new fan has more diameter than the antecedent fan spanning over 80mm instead of 60mm. Obviously, it will generate more airflow irrespective of the conditions and spin on dual ball bearings. IP5X-certified dust protection blocks the infiltration of dust particles to increase the lifespan of the fans.
