A few days ago, Industry Insider Jeff Grubb and Imran Khan claimed that their sources had told him Microsoft was planning to acquire Bungie. According to their report, Microsoft had tried to buy Bungie various times, but the price was too high and the deals fell through.
This rumor at first looked heavily true because Phil Spencer himself said that Xbox won’t stop from acquiring new studious and that they were In contact with numerous studious. The leak didn’t last long, and yesterday Pete Parsons CEO of Bungie replied to the tweet saying “This is false”.
Bungie’s Director and Public Relations Senior Vanessa Vanasin also cleared the conspiracy and said “All of the info and speculation out there is not true. We are lucky to have a great relationship with our many friends over there who play Destiny, and Halo will always have a special place in our hearts”
Bungie was previously owned by Xbox from 2000 to 2007. However, the company went private and it was no longer part of Xbox. Most of Halo Games from 2000 to 2010 were developed by Bungie. Team Microsoft has been creating new games through Activision ever since their relations with Bungie began to fell.
