After weeks of teases and speculation, Activision has finally unveiled details about this year’s Call Of Duty game during their Black Ops 4 reveal event. Like previous installments, Black Ops 4 will feature a variety of different game modes, including the ever-popular Zombie mode. Yes, this year’s installment will also feature its own take on the battle royale game mode.
Designated as Blackout, the new battle royale mode will put the players in a fight against each other where every player strives to be the last one standing. Activision also revealed that the players will be able to play the all-new mode ‘Blackout’, either in teams or solo, just as in PUBG and Fortnite. Where it varies from other battle royale games is that it draws massively on previous Black Ops installments. Developer Treyarch said they wanted to create a unique battle royale mode, they also added that they want to do it the “Black Ops way,” and to that, it includes aspects from the entire series.
According to Treyarch, the map in Blackout is the biggest one that they ever created. Some areas of the map are taken directly from old maps of previous installments, and players will be able to use weapons and items from previous Black Ops installments, including the RC car. The map also features air, sea, and land vehicles. Players can play as Hudson, Reznov, Mason and other characters from the series. However, Treyarch is still uncertain about the number of players Blackout will support.
One of the more surprising things about the Black Ops 4 is that it won’t feature a single-player campaign, like the previous installments did.
Call Of Duty Black Ops 4 will feature a variety of solo missions instead of a single-player campaign. The solo missions will be revolving around each of the Specialist characters. These will still contain the magnificent cutscenes the series is known for. Each character’s backstory will unfold along with other details as players work their way through them.
The solo missions will be set between the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3. Some of the previous Specialists will also return in this installment, including Ruin, Firebreak, and Seraph. There are also some new Specialist characters in this installment; so far, we have seen the ones named Crash, Torque, and Recon.
Call Of Duty Black Ops 4 will be released on the 12th of October for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Just like previous Black Ops games, this installment in the Black Ops series is also being developed by Treyarch. This time, the title will not be featuring wall running or thrust jumping, but this title will feature a Zombie mod, again.
