The Evo 2020 which was planned to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 31 till August 2 has been moved to digital. The news was confirmed by the EVO Twitter account, that wrote “Due to COVID-19, we are sadly cancelling Evo 2020 at Mandalay Bay and Refunding all purchased tickets”
It further wrote “the health and well-being of our community is our highest priority. We hope everyone stays safe during this time”
Its Evo event also knows as The Evolution Championship series strictly features fighting games. The annual e-sports event has the majority of winners from Japan, maybe because they are very good at Fighting games. The event has a lot of qualifiers and it’s an open event, so everyone has a chance.
Games in EVO Include
Street Fighter 5 Champion Edition, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Tekken 7, SoulCalibur 6, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Samurai Shodown, Under Night In-Birth, Granblue Fantasy Versus, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Top 8 of the event share a handsome amount of $100,000 while the winner gets $50,000. Last year, we heard about the Pakistani wonderkid Arsalan “Ash” Siddiqui who the Tekken 7 Championship, held in Las Vegas. Arsalan inspired others in his country by becoming the first Pakistani winner of Evo 2019.
Other events including BlizzCon 2020 were also cancelled. Similarly, E3 the biggest of all was cancelled for the first time in 25 years.
