Well, GameStop has been over the headlines from the past few weeks now. First, we heard that they will close all stores in California after a huge delay despite COVID-19. Afterwards, we heard that they will close 300 Stores around the globe, like previous year.

GameStop not closing their stores
GameStop once again today was involved in an issue with Boston Government. The company did not close its stores in Massachusetts, until now. Previously, GameStop told its employees to wrap their hands in plastic bags, and give orders through a crack in the door. This was not appreciated by people in Massachusetts, because GameStop is not an essential service.

Governments allow only stores that provide essential value like grocery & bakery. The City of Boston on March 24 announced that all non-essential businesses are required to stop their operations. GameStop did not approve of this, and their service was open for the public.

Finally Closed After City of Boston gets involved
The major game store, which has 5,500 stores around the globe could have faced charges but they were lucky. The City of Boston closed all its operations in the area. This happened on Tuesday, hence, they ran their service for an additional 5 days period.

GameStop has confirmed the news, however, they have rejected to answer any further questions. The Coronavirus pandemic has forced everyone to stay home, and it is likely most of the people are playing games. We have seen an incredible increase in playerbase of every game-related thing. GameStop chef executive George Sherman also acknowledged the huge demand saying

“The COVID-19 outbreak has led to changes in how consumers work, play, and learn,” “While still early, we are pleased with the progress we have made to date in our initiatives to stabilize, optimize, and transform the business.”

Working Despite COVID-19?
Its either heroic or stupid from GameStop to operate despite the Coronavirus threat. In an email the company told its employees to “lightly (you want to be able to get it off easily) tape a Game Stop plastic bag over your hand and arm. Do not open the door all the way — keep the glass between you and the guest’s face — just reach out your arm.”

Well, the game store is on the verge of decline. Their previous financials were already bad, and now the COVID-19 outbreak has further damaged their company. Closing stores every year, could certainly help them avoid sudden major loss.
