Back Story on GTA 4 removed from listing.
Grand Theft Auto 4 is one of the best GTA games I have ever played. The character Niko Bellic is just awesome, and he is quite different from other GTA characters we have seen. Today, we have news that Grand Theft Auto 4 Steam page does not allow players to buy the game any more. Previously, we saw GTA Vice City being removed from Marketplace in 2012, due to copyright claim, over the “Wanna be Starting” song by Micheal Jackson. GTA 4 afterward acknowledged this issue, and in 2018, they replaced several old songs, which had license getting expired.
Well, the game has been removed from Steam because of Windows live. According to Rockstar, Windows live is the reason for removal of Grand Theft Auto 4 from Steam.
“Grand Theft Auto 4 was originally created for the Games For Windows Live platform. With Microsoft no longer supporting Games For Windows Live, it is no longer possible to generate the additional keys needed to continue selling the current version of the game,” a Rockstar rep said. “We are looking at other options for distributing GTA4 for PC and will share more information as soon as we can.”
Players who have bought the game on Steam can happily enjoy it, they can download it over and over again. However, those who wanted to buy it cannot purchase it anymore. Rockstar will now try to sell GTA 4 on other platforms, like Epic Games or Rockstar’s own Launcher. Furthermore, its kind of end for Grand Theft Auto 4 on Steam, it’ll be remembered forever!
