‘GTA 6’ rumor: Sequel expected in 2022
Although Rockstar hasn’t officially announced it, there are a decent amount of GTA 6 game rumors and predictions floating around the web that give us a sense of what we can expect from the upcoming title.
The latest speculation according to the reports of YouTube channel The Know, sometime between 2021 and 2022 would be a more generous release date window for the open-world game. Youtube channel ‘The know’ mentioned that the game’s release date shouldn’t be expected anytime soon as the developers themselves have not announced anything regarding the upcoming sequel.
Rockstar North’s statement on GTA 6
Rockstar North’s former president, Leslie Benzies, said in an interview that “We don’t know what GTA 6 will be, but we’ve got some ideas…We’ve got about 45 years’ worth of ideas we want to do. We’ll pick the right ones. It comes from the idea first. Where it is going to be set is the first question. That then defines the missions: you’re doing different things in LA than in New York or Miami. The map and story get worked up together, and the story is a basic flow of how it works out so you can layer the mission in.”
Comeback to the vice city era?
Additionally, The Know has claimed that “GTA 6” is being worked on under the project moniker “Project Americas,” meaning the game will likely take place in both the United States and somewhere in the South or Central America. This led to speculations that the game could be revisiting Vice City, which is a fictional take on the city of Miami, Florida, which in real life is quite close to the Caribbean countries like Cuba and Jamaica. The Vice City style would lend itself to the ’80s as a direct follow-up to the original game. If this is the case, a trip to South America could be explained by the drug-fueled era of cartels and Columbia during that time.
Expected gameplay according to rumors
As rumors surface that the next game will be a return to Vice City and will have a female protagonist which is definitely a first in the history of “GTA.” There have also been a number of rumors around the web that suggest we may see a storyline with some futuristic elements, such as teleportation. GTA has generally stuck to a pretty realistic environment, and that has worked well for them, but we somehow doubt that the next game in its entirety will include heavy sci-fi elements.
At the end of the day, these GTA 6 game rumors are still unconfirmed, and we likely won’t see any information regarding the upcoming release until later this year. We’re nearly positive that the game development is well underway, so we should expect big things from Rockstar in the coming years.
