Racism in online gaming is increasing every day. Toxic players often rage, chat and insult other races with their racist remarks. Since Racist insults are a controversial topic, many gaming companies fail to make such clear rules that completely stop racial remarks. However, companies do try to ban and kick players who use racial slurs.
Similarly today. Infinity Ward has announced that “there is no place for racist in our game”. Due to the death of George Floyd, everyone has come forward and showed their support for the #BlackLivesMatter campaign. According to Infinity Ward, they will be making new efforts that will stop racism in COD Games. Moreover, they also said that they are banning thousands of players on a daily basis for racial names.
#EndCODracism became a trend after the online game became so toxic that players had started a movement. Coming back to the topic, here are the plans that will significantly reduce #CODracism.
- Add additional resources to monitor and ID racist content
- Add additional in-game reporting systems to increase the number of bans by hour
- Add filters and greater restrictions on name changes
- Evaluate in-game improvements to make it easier to report offenses
- Increase permanent bans to root out repeat offenders.
The tweet ended with the sentence “we apologize to our plans. This is our commitment to you, our fans, thank you.”
The death of George Floyd has caused massive protests across the U.S. A lot of shops, roads, and cities are filled with havoc. Yesterday, Infinity Ward announced that they will be delaying the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Warzone, and COD: Mobile Upcoming Season’s.
