During Epic’s State of Unreal presentation at GDC 2019, Epic revealed that Metro Exodus sold 2.5 times more than Metro: Last Light did on Steam. Even though Deep Silver got a lot of backlash from consumers for being “anti-consumer” it still came out on top. The numbers are impressive because it was a gamble for Deep Silver to move Metro Exodus from Steam to Epic.
Many fans might argue that the sales were higher because it was much more hyped than the predecessor but we’d like to think otherwise as both games got their fair share of hype.
In addition to that there are more games coming to Epic exclusively such as:
- Afterparty from Night School Studios
- The Cycle from YAGER
- Industries of Titan from Brace Yourself Games
- Journey to the Savage Planet from Typhoon Studios and 505 Games
- Kine from Chump Squad
- Spellbreak from Proletariat Inc
- Solar Ash from Heart Machine and Annapurna Interactive
On the other hand, the successful PlayStation exclusives, Detroit: Become Human, Two Souls and Heavy Rain are also coming to PC via Epic Games. Epic is making many big moves and it might surpass Steam in terms of quantity and sales.
