In a tweet, Xbox’s Major Nelson announced that Microsoft has successfully acquired Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media. In other words, Microsoft has acquired Arkane, Zenimax, Bethesda Softworks, id Software, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, Bethesda Game Studious, and Roundhouse Studios.
These studious were behind several major franchises like Fallout, Wolfenstein, Doom, Dishonored, Prey, Quake, Starfield, and most Importantly the Elder Scrolls Series. In a blog post by Xbox boss Phil Spencer, Microsoft is pleased to announce their new acquisitions. According to Phil, Bethesda has always had good relations with Xbox. They have supported Game Pass, worked closely since Xbox since first Doom Game, and Most Importantly release their games first on Xbox.
Bethesda’s games have always had a special place on Xbox and in the hearts of millions of gamers around the world. Our teams have a close and storied history working together, from the amazing first DOOM, and its id Tech engine, innovating games on PCs to Bethesda bringing their first console game to the original Xbox, the groundbreaking The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
With this impressive acquisition. Microsoft ensures that iconic Bethesda titles will join Xbox Pass, therefore coming to PC and Xbox. Moreover, a lot of new unannounced and announced games would join both Xbox and PC.
This might be one of the few studious Microsoft is racking up. Phil Spencer said that they won’t slow down, from acquiring new studious for Xbox. He also claimed that Microsoft CEO was behind their project. The studious I mentioned above will now join other like Age of Empires, 343 Industries, Turn 10, Undead less, Playground Games, Minecraft, and many others who were also acquired by Microsoft.
