Recently we talked about Minecraft being the most popular game of 2019, today we have another exciting news for Minecraft fans. The PS4 variant of the game is also getting an update to Unified Bedrock edition on December 10. This means that now cross-platform between Xbox One, Windows 10 PCs, iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch, and PS4 is possible. Additionally, the update is completely free and every player will keep his possessions and progress.
Furthermore, Sony recently took its PS4 cross-play support out of beta, afterward, Microsoft has now planned the new update, which will enable cross-play. I know PlayStation 4 is a little late to the party considering cross-play was already available for Minecraft on PC, Xbox, Mobile, and the Switch two years ago.
“One of Minecraft’s core missions is to connect players across devices and provide the best experience regardless of platform,” says Minecraft studio head Helen Chiang, “We continue to fulfill that mission here today by welcoming PS4 players to Minecraft on Bedrock and growing our cross-platform multiplayer community.”
The successful journey for Minecraft continues. Recently Microsoft reported that Minecraft is an all-time best-selling game after it had sold 147 million copies. It also got 100 billion views on YouTube in 2019, making it the most popular game of 2019.
“YouTube Rewind picks 5-minute footage from most popular yearly videos. Minecraft has a lot of popular channels that act as a source, for example, PewDiePie YouTube channel hit 4 billion views, and 570 million views were from Minecraft videos”.
The Update for Bedrock Edition will be available on PS4 from 10th December.
