Well Just in, some boring news from Electronic Arts, players cannot cross-play on FIFA 21. In other words, if you have PS5, and you want to play with your PS4 friend, simply forget it. Likewise, cross-platform is also disabled, and you cannot play with your Xbox buddies.

The news is major and I don’t know why, but Electronic Arts should have addressed this in FIFA 21 official page details. This question was brought to the FIFA Twitter account by a user who asked the question.

“If I get a PS5, but my friend still has a PS4, will we be able to play #FUT Co-op together? (Same question for Xbox Series X and Xbox One)”

EA FIFA Direct Twitter Account replied to the tweet “You won’t be able to play across console generations or cross-play in #FIFA21. However, you will be able to carry over your FUT progression from PS4 to PS5 and Xbox 1 to Xbox Series X.”

This is definitely not good news, and Esports players who live and breathe in FIFA will have more than just a few questions. This can also impact the Weekend League, and on top of that, Tournaments will also be affected.

Majority of the games on newer Console’s are support cross-play and I’ve zero idea why EA has somehow decided to go against it. Anyhow, we’ll see how EA responds to the massive critics and maybe they can re-consider their decision.
