Recently a rumor has been spreading around surrounding the PlayStation 5 being capable of running games at 8K with 120FPS. It all started at the International Broadcast Equipment Exhibition 2018 event which took place in Tokyo, Japan when Sony announced CLEDIS. What is CLEDIS? CLEDIS also known as Crystal LED Display System is a massive 440-inch screen with close to 180-degree 8K TV and 120hz capability.

Now, you may ask where did the rumor start? Well, the CLEDIS displayed Gran Turismo on some sort of PlayStation console which raised a lot of questions. A lot of people began to think that it was the next-gen PlayStation 5 and the reason behind them thinking that it was the PlayStation 5 is because a few months ago Kazunori Yamauchi the CEO of Polyphony digital stated during the interview that the assets they built for GT Sports were over-specced all they way to 8K.

Kazunori Yamauchi stated the following.

“It takes six months to create a single car. It’s over-specced for PS4 Pro. So we are building for future versions of the console rather than the one we see today. I think it would be no problem to run it at 8K even”.
