Previously, I wrote about GTA Online making a fortune for Rockstar, despite being released in 2013. Similarly, Rockstar’s latest title Red Dead Redemption 2 was also being challenged by Witcher 3, who had just come out of the dead. Rockstar also lost their co-founder Dan Houser, after which Take-Two faced a lot of criticism and damages.

GTA 5 & Red Dead Redemption 2 generated more than 150 million in sales
Today we have an extra-ordinary report, that Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5 sales have made more than 150 million. GTA 5 previously made 120 million in total sales. After that, Rockstar dropped one of their best Heist, called Diamond Casino. The Heist made further 20 million last year. GTA 5 is still hanging with top guns on Steam’s player base stats. The game has infinite features and things players can do.

Rockstar’s latest release Red Dead Redemption 2 had a pretty rough start, the game had terrible optimization, bugs, and terrible launcher. The game eventually turned out to be fine months later, after Rockstar kept fixing things with new patches. Red Dead Redemption 2 after PC Launch generated more than 29 million in sales. Furthermore, Red Dead Redemption 2 has had epic success with micro transactions. The game player base has just started to increase, after its optimization keeps getting better. This allows PC users to play the game on budget hardware too. Red Dead Online has also gained its momentum, and its doing pretty well.

Epic Games, Steam & Humble Store have had many sales last year, allowing a lot of players to buy Red Dead Redemption 2. The game also hosted many free giveaways and incredible events. GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 in total have generated more than 150 million in sales. We know that the majority of these numbers come from GTA 5, however, Red Dead Redemption 2 is growing extremely fast, and it might just cross GTA 5 contributions in the coming years.

Despite both games doing so well, Take-Two revenue is down. The company is now facing further criticism from Investors after co-founder Dan Houser left. The stocks have also dropped 5%, and now they will look for a replacement. It is very unlikely they will find a replacement for someone like Dan Houser, who was behind all these incredible Rockstar titles like GTA, Max Payne, and Red Dead Redemption. Take-Two is quite relieved since Dan Houser’s brother Sam Houser is sill working with Rockstar. Both Houser brothers founded Rockstar under Take-Two.
