Red Dead Redemption 2 has finally been revealed by Rockstar Games. It gave the eager fans the first opportunity to have a look at what exactly the sequel will be like when it is launched later this year. The video lets us have a more in-depth look at how players will be able to interact with the Van Der Line Gang, build a reputation for the main character Arthur Morgan, the game world, and more.

As the voice-over in the trailer states. “With Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games aims to create a living world that is not simply open, but deeper, more detailed and interactive than ever that combines storytelling, action, and gameplay in new ways as you ride, live, and fight to survive as an outlaw in an infamous gang.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 will feature a vast American landscape that will involve everything from dense forests and harsh mountain trails to sweeping deserts, swamplands, rugged livestock towns, and cities that are undergoing the process of modernization. Players will be able to move between these locations and each location will provide the players with a variety of missions and activities to engage with.

Playing as Arthur Morgan, you roll with the Van Der Linde gang, who are being pursued by lawmen across America with the intent to put an end to the age of outlaws. The way that players are able to interact with their fellow gang members is key to Red Dead Redemption’s 2 story and gameplay, which means that they are always available to talk to, either to get missions and activities or just for a general chit-chat. The players can also take their partners in crime out with them to go drinking, hunting, or rob.

There is a dedicated camp for the Van Der Linde that evolves over time. Players will return to the camp very often to take on activities and missions, also to build their relationships with the other gang members. Here in the camp, the group can perform chores, eat, sleep, and play games together. Each of the gang’s member is involved in the process of keeping the camp maintained. The camp requires a regular supply of provisions to upkeep, whether it’s cash or food. The players can choose whether to contribute or leave it to others, also helping out will lead to Arthur getting rewarded for his efforts. The camp locations will change as the story will progress, which makes sense as they are outlaws on the run.

The players can interact with the majority of other characters in the Red Dead Redemption 2, but these interactions will change depending on the context and situation. Since you are an outlaw, you can choose how you want to approach the world, either you can behave like an upstanding member of the society or you can cause trouble. Depending on the player’s approach, the world and the people around you will react accordingly.

Another big pillar of the Red Dead Redemption 2 is the horses in the game. They are as much of a companion for Arthur as they are a transportation option. Just like the first game, the wild horses can be ridden and tamed, but in this game, they will behave differently depending on their breed. Some horses might get scared easily when around action, while others may be better suited to go through a certain terrain. Players are able to groom and feed the horses in order to build a bond with them, and if they are upset, players can calm them too. As the bond deepens between Arthur and horse, the horse’s speed and stamina increases, it also becomes easier to calm the horse.

Being a senior member of the Van Der Linde gang, Arthur has the confidence of its leader. Dutch joined the group when he was a boy and he treats the member of the gang as a family which inspires deep loyalty for him. Because the life of an outlaw is all he has known from a young age, he’s desperate to protect his lifestyle and family. Other than being an outlaw, the player can define how honorable Arthur is through actions. The way the players choose to approach activities and missions, as well as their general conduct in daily life in the game will define how honorable Arthur is.

Fighting and shooting have also been improved in order to make the combat feel deep and engaging at all times. With realistic reload and recoil, the guns now have unique characteristics.

Rockstar provided few details about the Red Dead Redemption 2’s gameplay up until now, opting instead to release three cinematic trailers that give us some insight into the story of the game. Red Dead Redemption 2 is set in America in the year 1899, at the end of the wild west era.

The story revolves around the outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van Der Linde gang as they fight for survival by stealing and robbing their way across the heart of America. A previous trailer confirmed that the protagonist from the first Red Dead Redemption, John Marston, will be making an appearance.

Take-Two, Rockstar’s parent company said that the release date of Red Dead Redemption 2 will not change again and it will release on October 26. However, a PC version hasn’t been officially confirmed yet but it is set to release on Xbox One and PS4. A programmer working on the game indicated that the game could be coming on PC as well.
