Rockstar is perhaps one of the most prominent Gaming companies ever. They are the folks behind some of the most interesting and revolutionary games ever. Their famous works include GTA, Max Payne, Red Dead Redemption, and La Noire series. Rockstar is literally the best gaming company, many few people will disagree with this statement.
Many people lead Rockstar from scratch, but one person was above all. Sadly, he has announced that he will leave Rockstar. His name is Dan Houser, and here is his overview:
“Dan Houser is an English video game producer, writer, and voice actor, as well as the co-founder and vice president of creativity for Rockstar Games. As well as producing video games, Houser was the head writer for Rockstar Games, being the lead for Bully, Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3”
Dan Houser was the pillar of Rockstar Games. He was the person who helped start from scratch, and most of the titles were his ideas. Take-Two the parent company of Rockstar announced that Dan Houser is leaving Rockstar Games. “After an extended break beginning in the spring of 2019, Dan Houser, Vice President, Creative at Rockstar Games, will be leaving the company. Dan Houser’s last day will be March 11, 2020,” the filing says. “We are extremely grateful for his contributions. Rockstar Games has built some of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful game worlds, a global community of passionate fans and an incredibly talented team, which remains focused on current and future projects.”
He was the face of Rockstar Games, and since he has left. Rockstar is already facing huge criticism from investors, who were highly confident when Houser was working. They knew that everything was dependent on him, and Rockstar’s future also lies within him. Rockstar Games stock has dropped 5% after Dan Houser left.
Furthermore, Rockstar Games’ background also comes from Houser not Take Two. Dan Houser & his brother Sam Houser founded Rockstar Games under Take-Two in December 1988. They worked at BMG Interactive, however, it was acquired by Take-Two. Both brothers were responsible for writing and developing all major titles.
Sam Houser, however, is still working with Rockstar Games. A Rockstar Games spokesperson said that “Sam Houser’s role with Rockstar Games, which he founded in 1998, remains unchanged. Sam and the team remain focused on current and future projects.”
So Why did Dan Houser leave?
Many speculations suggest that Dan Houser was heavily involved in extended work hours. He was unhappy with his current routine, and he needed break. Dan Houser did take holiday, however, it looks like he has gone on long vacations. Dan Houser is a millionaire with $130 Net worth. He is 46, and it looks like he decided to spend the rest of his life enjoying the fruit of his hard work.
Rockstar has definitely lost its leading person. It’ll be difficult for them to replace someone like Dan Houser, who had a background of game development since birth. People like Dan Houser are rare, and Rockstar Games will now have to lead themselves. Furthermore, Dan Houser brother is still working with Rockstar so that is a relief. Lastly, Rockstar Games mentioned that they are working on their future projects despite him leaving. It’ll be a test for Rockstar Games to show promising results in GTA 6, else everyone will say Dan Houser was the reason behind GTA success. Rockstar Games must put up a show & let everyone know that they are still Rockstar Games without Dan Houser.
