We have seen a lot of gaming companies contributing to the Coronavirus relief funds. Last week, Riot reportedly donated around One Million to their local Coronavirus Relief fund. Others like Razer, who are primarily involved in Gaming Equipment also decided to make thousands of N95 masks, that will be donated all over the world. Bungie along with Sony were very generous and allowed their staff to work from home.

Rockstar to donate 5% Earnings from GTA 5 and Red Online
Similarly today, we have another big gun “Rockstar” has decided to donate some earnings to COVID-19 Relief. In a statement by Rockstar, all earnings from GTA V and Red Dead Online during April 1-March 31 will go to Coronavirus relief funds.

The company announced this plan this week. “As our teams navigate these difficult times, we see our local communities across North America, the UK, India and beyond being deeply affected,” a blog post reads. “Small businesses have closed their doors, and communities who rely on government-provided support that they cannot access are struggling. The road ahead will be challenging, and we want to help where we can.

“Starting April 1st and continuing through the end of May, 5% of our revenue from purchases in our online games, GTA Online and Red Dead Online, will be donated to COVID-19 relief efforts. These funds will be used to help local communities and businesses struggling with the impacts of COVID-19, both directly and by supporting some of the amazing organizations who are on the ground helping those affected by this crisis.”

5% can turn out to be a lot more
Anyone thinking that this 5% looks too low for someone like Rockstar? Well, this is how big companies make a percentage. They make millions within months, and such a short percentage can gather a massive amount. It is very generous of Rockstar though, massive respect and energy to them.
