Sony’s Jim Ryan gave an interview to Japanese site AV Tech, In which he mentioned that they wanted to make a low spec Xbox Series S like Console. However, they changed their minds, because apparently it was too “problematic.”
According to Jim Ryan, the price factor plays an important role. However, In the past, we’ve seen that reduced spec consoles have never given great results.
“Clearly, price is a very important factor,” he told Japanese site AV Watch. “One thing that can be said is that if you look at the history of the game business, creating a special low priced, reduced spec console is something that has not had great results in the past. We’ve considered that option and seen other executives who have attempted this discover how problematic it is.”
Jim Ryan also commented that right now Sony is focused on providing future-proof Console, which will hold for a couple of years. Sony’s ambition is to let players have faith in their consoles, that it could cope with all the latest technologies.
“They want to believe they have bought something that is future-proofed and not going to be outdated in two-to-three years. They want to have faith that if they end up buying a new TV that their current console will be able to support that new 4K TV they are considering buying.”
PlayStation 5 Price and Release Date were announced very recently. The Digital Edition of PS5 would go for $399.99, while the Disc Edition would be $499.99. The Console is set to release in November, and pre-orders have already begun.
