Every year E3 is a fun event, where we get to see most of the latest game franchises, trailers, brands, projects and figures. However, one of the big guns of E3 won’t be participating this year. Sony has confirmed that they are skipping this year’s E3.
An official from Sony told Gamesindustry.biz that this year E3 does not suit their vision. Furthermore, he said that they will still participate in those, which are part of their vision or plans.
“After thorough evaluation SIE has decided not to participate in E3 2020,” said a Sony Interactive Entertainment spokesperson. “We have great respect for the ESA as an organization, but we do not feel the vision of E3 2020 is the right venue for what we are focused on this year.
“We will build upon our global events strategy in 2020 by participating in hundreds of consumer events across the globe. Our focus is on making sure fans feel part of the PlayStation family and have access to play their favorite content. We have a fantastic line up of titles coming to PlayStation 4, and with the upcoming launch of PlayStation 5, we are truly looking forward to a year of celebration with our fans.”
E3 is one of the main events in which PlayStation has revealed various details of their upcoming Projects. They first attended it in 1995 and showcased their original PlayStation. Their second most E3 was 2013 when they showed PS4, which was one of their major projects, that gave them an edge over Xbox. Sony also skipped last year’s E3 due to similar reasons.
Apart from Sony, don’t worry Microsoft will be there and it has been confirmed by a Tweet from Phil Spencer. The Xbox Team is coming to E3 2020!.
