Geoff Keighley is hosting a new gaming event this year, that will run from May to August. The game event described as Summer Game Fest will be a digital event that will feature new announcements, trailers, and gameplay content.
Furthermore, Jeff Keighley said that Summer Game Fest is not that big yet, however, there are ways to create it.
“You have to open your mind to different ways of getting news about games,” Keighley said. “[Summer Game Fest] is not a big press conference with 5,000 people in an audience hooting and hollering and cheering. And I miss that stuff. Those things are big moments.
“So how do we create those new moments in this new world order? I think people have to just accept that it’s different. Maybe some things will be even better. And maybe you’ll get more content at home.”
A lot of publishers including 2K, Activision, Bandai Namco, Bethesda, Blizzard, Bungie, CD Projekt Red, Digital Extremes, EA, PlayStation, Private Division, Riot Games, Steam, Square Enix, Warner Bros. and Xbox have already signed up for this program.
Other events including BlizzCon 2020 were canceled. Similarly, E3 the biggest of all was canceled for the first time in 25 years. Both events were fully canceled, meaning no digital events either. Similar to the Summer Game Fest, the Gamescom 2020 is also happening digitally.
