Well, Sony can definitely surprise you. A few days ago, Sony said that their upcoming PlayStation 5 won’t be delayed despite the Coronavirus pandemic. Now if you look at PlayStation 5 it is the most likely thing to get delayed, but yet it was not. However, today they have confirmed that The Last of Us 2 will be delayed due to COVID-19.

Last of Us Part 2 Delayed
The Last of Us 2 keeps getting delayed, but this time Sony is concerned about logistics regarding the game’s delivery. Furthermore, Marvel’s Iron Man VR is also being delayed. In a statement on Twitter, PlayStation wrote

“[Sony Interactive Entertainment] has made the difficult decision to delay the launch of The Last of Us Part II and Marvel’s Iron Man VR until further notice,” it writes. “Logistically, the global crisis is preventing us from providing the launch experience our players deserve.”

The news was once again confirmed by Naughty Dog. According to the statement posted by Naughty Dog, the game is done with development. It only needs final touches like fixing leftover bugs. The statement further acknowledges the logistics issue caused by COVID-19.

“However, even with us finishing the game, we were faced with the reality that due to logistics beyond our control, we couldn’t launch The Last of Us Part II to our satisfaction. We want to make sure everyone gets to play The Last of Us Part II around the same time, ensuring that we’re doing everything possible to preserve the best experience for everyone. This meant delaying the game until such a time where we can solve these logistic issues”.

The Coronavirus outbreak keeps expanding and it looks like companies will need more than just a few months. I think hopefully things could get better in summers, and we can expect Last of Us 2 release date in July. Sony along Naughty Dog has not shared the release dates, however, they are “hoping this won’t be a long delay”.
