Very Recently Two Key Ubisoft Executives were forced to resign on the basis of Sexual Misconduct. The company had started an internal investigation against several accused people, and when they were found guilty. They were forced to resign.
Today Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot came forward and spoke about the sexual misconduct problem within Ubisoft. According to him, he will do everything to improve and strengthen Ubisotft’s corporate culture.
“While Ubisoft’s current performance and business prospects are stronger than ever, we nonetheless face a very serious challenge following the recent allegations and accusations of misconduct and inappropriate behavior within our Group. I am determined to make profound changes in order to improve and strengthen our corporate culture,” Guillemot said.
“We already have acted swiftly and firmly, announcing and introducing large-scale initiatives intended to transform our organization. Our overriding aim is ensuring that all Ubisoft employees have a safe and inclusive workplace environment. As a leader in our industry, we have to be intransigent in order to create an exemplary culture where everyone feels respected and valued. This is vital to ensure that all of the talented people who make up Ubisoft feel fulfilled in their jobs.”
Guillemot also said that he was very wrong to place trust in some people at Ubisoft. According to him, they simply “didn’t live up to Ubisoft’s Values”. Moreover, he also mentioned that the HR process is being revamped for better responsiveness to issues like these. According to him, they will also launch a harassment awareness-raising campaign among all of its employees.
“For that purpose, it has selected a leading consultancy firm to perform an external audit. It has also been decided that a portion of team leads’ bonuses will be tied to their ability to create a positive and inclusive workplace environment.” Reads the file
The most interesting thing they have done to counter sexual misconduct is by the addition of Workplace Culture. According to Guillemot, a person has been appointed for Workplace culture, who will report on all sorts of matters directly to Yves Guillemot.
These are post-investigation talks. The original investigation was primarily started after people started to criticize Ubisoft. The creative director of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Ashraf Ismail was involved in sexual relationship with a fan.
Ashraf was married, while he kept lying to the fan. This caused a spark on Twitter, and Ashraf left Ubisoft due to uncertain reasons. You can more about that in our report.
