Following the events that unfolded in Paris on Monday that led to the historically important cathedral go up in flames, Ubisoft has pledged to donate $565,000 to help in restoring the iconic structure.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity is set in Paris and features the iconic Notre-Dame in all its glory. When the fire broke out people from the gaming community and AC fans were quick to point out that Ubisoft can play a vital role in returning the iconic structure back to it’s former glory given how detailed the recreation is in the game.

Ubisoft said that “We developed an even closer connection with this incredible city and its landmarks—one of the most notable elements of the game was the extraordinary recreation of Notre-Dame.Video games can enable us to explore places in ways we never could have otherwise imagined. We hope, with this small gesture, we can provide everyone an opportunity to appreciate our virtual homage to this monumental piece of architecture.”

In light of the events that followed the damage brought to the Notre-Dame, Ubisoft will be giving away Assassin’s Creed: Unity throughout the week. It is available for download on Uplay currently for free.
