After a lot of leaks and rumors, Microsoft has come forward and revealed their Xbox Series X Specs. Microsoft says that their upcoming console will “set a new bar for performance, speed and captibility”.

The Xbox Head Phil Spencer further said that Xbox Series X custom processors is “four times the processing power of an Xbox One”. We are looking at some excellent specs here, and I am pretty sure Microsoft is not talking nonsense.

New view of Xbox Series X

Xbox Series X will be using AMD Zen 2 CPU featuring 8 cores clocked at 3.8 Ghz, and 3.6Ghz with SMT. The graphics card is also incredible, featuring a custom AMD RNDA 2 GPU, that will power 12 TFLOPS, and 52 CU’s at 1.825Ghz. The memory is also based on a good performance. Xbox Series X will have 16 GB of Memory in total, however, 10 GB of it will be used for GPU Optimal Memory and 3.5GB For standard memory. The remaining 2.5GB is reserved for OS, to run smoothly.

Improvements from the previous Xbox X.

The first thing is the solid-state drive set to be part of Xbox Series X. The previous Console featured a rather slow HDD which was unable to process smoothness in games at high resolutions. According to Microsoft, the newer SSD will resume games even after the console is accidentally closed. Secondly, CPU is a major upgrade here, we are looking at almost 1.0 Ghz increase and this can really help Microsoft achieve its goals of 4k/60 and 120FPS. Thirdly, Memory at 16GB GDDR6 is an upgrade over the older 12GB GDDR5 Ram. Lastly, Expansion is another reason to buy XBOX Series X.

  • Additional Features.
  • Ray Tracing in 4k 60FPS
  • Support up to 8K
  • Efficient Design
  • Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) & Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology
  • USB-C, AA Batteries, and Bluetooth Low Energy Features in the controller
  • Share button on Controller, allowing players to share gameplay screenshots and videos

Xbox Series X has done it
Microsoft is truly confident in its project as described in their blog post. The upgrade from the previous console to Xbox Series X Is truly enormous. Furthermore, we are looking at some superb specs that can challenge PC Gaming if the price is affordable. AMD is also appreciated by Microsoft for what they have produced for their Xbox Series X

“Xbox Series X is the biggest generational leap of SOC [System on a Chip] and API design that we’ve done with Microsoft, and it’s really an honor for AMD to be a trusted Microsoft partner for this endeavor,” said Nussbaum. “The Xbox Series X is going to be a beacon of technical innovation leadership for this console generation and will propagate the innovation throughout the DirectX ecosystem this year and into next year.”

Pricing & Release Date
Microsoft has been able to target 4k 60FPS/120FPS with these specs. Their main goal was making a console that had “improved boot and load times, more stable frame rates, higher resolutions and improved innovation”. Lastly, Xbox Series X is set to release in Holiday 2020, rumored to price at $500.
